With the development and further popularization of wireless mobile technology, the security issue of data and information has arisen and hindered the application of that technology. This paper attempts to study the security issue occurred in the process of transmitting data and information in wireless mobile application on the basis of a project "Population Information Query by Mobile Phone", which is subordinated to the project "Integrated Management Information System of Police Information" of Gansu Provincial Committee of Science and Technology. The major findings of the project research can be concluded as follows: 1. Analyze the problems existing in the security schema of the application of wireless mobile technology based on J2ME technology at home and abroad;2. Analyze respectively the advantages of J2ME and XML security technology as well as the security model for mobile application, the model which is constructed on both J2ME and XML security technology;3. Design an End-to-End data security model for wireless mobile application, through combining J2ME with XML. The model designed combines XKMS technology to secure the public key with XML-Signature and XML-Encryption for data security;4. Work out a kind of identity authentication mechanism suited to wireless mobile condition aiming to improve the security and network's performance of the model;5. Succeed in applying the model to the wireless population information query system;6. Point out the advantages of the model in terms of security and the disadvantages in terms of performance.
