CAD/CAM integration is important in the digital design and manufacture. And CAPP is the bridge to connect CAD/CAM. Among many integration methods of CAD/CAPP/CAM, feature-based one is considered to be most promising. Therefore, feature-based CAPP has been paid more and more attentions in last two decades. In this thesis, the research focuses on the setup planning and operation planning of feature-based CAPP.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:A new approach of setup planning based on operation sequence constraint is presented. In the approach, reasonable setup sequence is generated through considering the setup sequence constraint constructed from operation sequence constraint between features. The approach makes sure that the setup number is as small as possible and the operation sequence is satisfied.A hierarchical approach to operation planning is presented. After analyzing the factors that affect the operation planning, the operation sequence is determined in each level according the corresponding factors, which makes operation planning more reasonable.A new approach to generating operation sequence and optimal machine path based on GA is presented. By dividing operations into two types, raw and fine, and generating operation sequence independently, the circle sequence constraint problem is solved. In addition, the operation sequence can be effectively generated with an appropriate fitness function set up.Based on the above results, a prototype system ZD-SOPS is developed, which has been tested by several parts.
