Development and use of IP cores has been the main design method for SoC(System on a Chip) design since the IC design enters into SoC design era. However, IC design in China develops latter than some other countries, it is significant for us to design the IP cores which belong to us.MCU (Micro Controller Unit) IP core as an embedded micro controller unit, has widely been used in the fields of communication, traffic, medicine, instruments, electronic products for daily life and so on, and it drives the fast development of country's economy. In these application-embedded systems, MCU based on 51 instruction system holds on the important place, because of its low price and high performance. So it has highly academic and practical significance. Based on above point, this thesis researchs and designs a 8-bit CISC IP core, which is compatible with standard 8051. In ALU design, we use leading-carry extendable and dual-bit algorithms to improve performance of adder and division circuits, in controller design, we integrate the traditional methods—hard route and micro-program into our controller design, the new structure-LUT controller is less complex than hard route controller, and faster than micro-program controller.Meanwhile, as the constant increase of electrionic products based on USB bus and the demand of USB interface chips at present, we integrate the USB interface module into MCU IP core, and implement USB equipment controller by way of single chip.
