The Digital Campus Construction Based On The WEBGIS Theory

The infomationization is an issue that many realms concern especially currently.In the geoscience's realm, the application of infomationization is the GIS. And weput forward a concept of digital earth on this foundation. In the smaller humangeography environment, for example the university campus, the GIS can also play aparticularly important role. The former digital campus is built with the MIS mainly.It has much limitation. For example there have not the function of space informationmanagement and the space analysis as well as the support of the virtual campus andso on. So it is necessary to join GIS to build digital campus.Currently the digital campus is built in a lot of universities. It had carried outsome realizations of first steps. This paper first analyzes current condition of digitalcampus and summarizes contents of future digital campus. Paper also analyzes GIS'sfuture development trend, and puts forward a newer topic of digital campusaccording to the WEBGIS. Secondly paper discusses the key technique of theWEBGIS on digital campus construction. Then I compared three kinds of techniqueof WEBGIS currently.There are three WEBGIS technology: WEBGIS technology based on servers,based on client, and the mix of two. Finally the paper selects the ArcIMS asWEBGIS server software, and selects distributive network GIS according to the Webservice as system structure. The paper discusses the principles of digital campusdesign and makes the first realization.
