As a main application of remote education, desktop picture transmission involves in desktop picture coding and is a key issue of picture coding technology in remote education.Desktop pictures normally contain much marginal information. Thus this type of pictures shall be compressed losslessly or almost losslessly. In case marginal information lost, picture or words will become indiscernible and will become valueless. The abstract mainly researches desktop picture coding by further comparing and analyzing different kinds of picture coding methods in application, and analyzes their merits and faults; and proposes a kind of comprehensive coding method through detailed analysis to picture features. This method analyzes desktop pictures and separates continuant tone zones, unique colors zones, and discrete tone zones. It compresses and codes the division zones. Compared with current desktop picture coding, it comes with better ratio of compression and is a better method for comprehensive coding. It also proposes a system for desktop picture coding, through which, coding between desktop picture frames may be highly improved. In the end, it makes true the proposed coding system with multicast technology on basis of DirectShow Framework.
