A layered space-time model combined with Space-time Block Coding (STBC) is discussed in this paper-LSTBC (Layered STBC). As one kind of Layered Space-time (LST) architecture, the Vertical Bell Laboratory Layered Space Time (VBLAST) performance is affected by the accuracy of the previously encoded symbols. According to the model proposed in the paper, STBC is adopted in a system that has four transmitting antennas and four receiving antennas to increase the diversity of two layers symbols. On the other hand, LSTBC distinctly heightens the data rate relative to STBC, i.e. increasing the spectral efficiency. In the receiver, group interference suppression (GIS) is combined with STBC decoding to decrease the complexity of receiver and improve the system performance. The simulation results show that the performance of the proposed model is much better than the traditional VBLAST.At last, this paper discussed the use of LSTBC in OFDM systems at length and provides the simulation results.
