Study On Fair Exchange Protocols And Their Applications In Electronic Commerce

With the increasing development of the Internet, e-commerce has become more and more important. How to guarantee fairness and security in electronic commerce, call people to use e-commerce and make e-commerce more and more popular are what some researchers have been hard studying. Fair exchange protocols and specifications play an important theoretical role in its realization and thus considered indispensable in security study. Fair exchange has many applications in e-commerce. Electronic cash, electronic voting, electronic auction and electronic contract singing etc have become primary forms of fair exchange. With the enlarging network commerce of modern enterprises and the developing network technique, electronic contract singing has wide use. So, studying electronic contract singing has important application value.Under such an application background, this paper mainly presents some research results of fair exchange protocols and their applications. The research background, the research significance and the on-going research are introduced in details. The basic concepts and the common terminologies on the non-repudiation protocols are defined. The security weaknesses and the new security requirements of some open published exchange protocols and non-repudiation protocols are analyzed and generalized. In this thesis, we focus on fair exchange protocols and their applications in electronic contract. The primary research is summarized as follows:â‘ Characteristic and applicable scope of Automatic execution protocol, arbitration protocol and arbitrament protocol are summarized.â‘¡Study on fair rule of electronic commerce. Fairness essentials are concluded. Several define of fairness and a fair guideline has been presented, which is fit for fair exchange protocols. Meanwhile, fairness of several protocols is analyzed.â‘¢Two kinds of fair exchange protocols, gradual exchange protocols and third party protocols are discussed. Several protocols are given. Their merits and flaws are analyzed in this paper. A fair information exchange protocol with offline TTP is given and its fairness is analyzed thoroughly.â‘£A detailed classification and an accurate definition of the non-repudiation protocols is given. Non-repudiation and security of two non-repudiation protocols are analyzed in this paper. The relationships (difference and similarity) between the non-repudiation protocols and fair exchange protocols are analyzed in detail.
