Recent years,with the development of information science and technology,theautomated fingerprint identification and its algorithm has been progressedgreatly. The Automated Fingerprint Identification System is a biometricidentification (ID) methodology that uses digital imaging technology to obtain,store, and analyze fingerprint data. Fingerprint, as one of the most stable humanphysiological characteristics,has been widely used for personal identific-ation,and its excellent effect has been proven in practice and accepted.Thispaper mainly discusses about the design of automated fingerprint identificationsystem based on Texas Instruments(TI) company's TMS320C5402 digital signalprocessing.The main jobs are as follows:1. introducing the principle and the method of the fingerprintidentification,and comparing the characters of three type offingerprint sensors.2. Researching and simulating the algorithm of pre-processing,featureextraction and feature matching of the fingerprint images.3. Designing the hardware system of the embedded fingerprintidentification system that mainly consists of TMS320C5402 DSP andMBF200 capacitor fingerprint sensor,finishing the interface circuitbetween DSP and the memorizer,the fingerprint sensor etc.4. Designing the software program including the initialization of theDSP system,receiving data through the McBSP port and bootloader.In addition,The program has been simulated on the system of CCS2.0 producedby the Texas Instruments and works well.
