A fingerprint acquisition system based-on digital signal processor is introduced in this thesis, which successfully achieves rapid fingerprint acquisition. In this system, fingerprint identification is made possible through the application of digital signal processor. This system is mainly made up of digital signal processor and solid-state fingerprint sensor. In the CCS integrated development environment, acquisition, storage and display of fingerprint is carried out with the driver program developed in this system. There are two aims for the design of this fingerprint acquisition system. The first one is to acquire accurate fingerprint data and the second one is to provide the possibility for it to be updated into an independent fingerprint identification system. This system is self-adaptive. In order to acquire legible fingerprint image, parameters can be adjusted according to the quality of the present fingerprint and the surroundings that the fingerprint system is in. Consequently, the system can operate properly in various conditions. For the future updating easily, 100MIPS DSP and 16Mbit Flash ROM and 256k×16 SRAM are used for providing enough hardware resource. The present application situation, the principles and characteristics of various fingerprint sensors are summarized in this thesis. Subsequently, the overall scheme is presented, including the principles for fingerprint acquisition, fingerprint data storage and display of a fingerprint image. Then the hardware and software design for the concrete implementation is demonstrated. At last, some fingerprint images, which are acquired through CCS, are presented. Experiments results illustrate that the fingerprint image acquired by this system has quality as good as that acquired from other current fingerprint acquisition devices, and what's more important, parameters can be adjusted flexibly.
