Thermal remote sensing is an important field in research of remote sensing. Retrieveing temperature from thermal remote sensing image is the precondition to using this technology.This paper mentioned the basic theorem of thermal remote sensing,including themost important laws--Planck's law and Kirchhoff's law.The algorithm oftemperature information retrieval is on the basis of these laws.Then it summarized the using of thermal remote sensing technology, such as proving groundwater, evaluating environmental conditions of cities, proving mineral resources, inspecting earthquakes and volcanos, using in agriculture, analyzing pipeline and using for weather.Thirdly, it introduced the five representative thermal remote sensors and their satellites, as follows: NOAA and its sensor AVHRR, Chinese FY and its sensor MVIRS and VISSR, MODIS and the plan of EOS, Terra and its sensor ASTER, Landsat and its sensor TM and ETM+.Finally, choose the high-resolution images by the band wave 6 of TM and ETM+ to retrieval the brightness temperature image and surface temperature image. And then using the image by ASTER the five thermal wave bands to retrieval the brightness temperature images, using the band 13 brightness temperature image to nearly express the surface temperature image. In allusion to the problems when retrievaled the brightness temperature images and temperature images, found some models to optimize them. According to the different temperature segments, add different colors to express the distribution of temperature well.
