The bestseller development of China started at the beginning of 1990s. Now it has acquired a certain scale in production mechanism and operation mode and formed a set of comparatively integrated norms and systems. Many insiders think that China has already entered the era of bestsellers. This thesis uses such multidisciplinary theories and methods as literature and art sociology, aesthetics, publishing principle, communication theory, economics, etc. to make a comparatively deep and systematic study of the development track, historical feature and present situation of the contemporary literature bestsellers. Its goal is to understand and appraise the contemporary literature bestsellers more concretely, objectively, overall and scientifically, overcome the drawback in the development of literature bestsellers and conduct it to develop healthily and positively. At the same time, the empirical research and systematic analysis of species, subject matter and mechanism of the contemporary literature bestsellers will contribute to cleaning out some theoretical and practical mistaken ideas within limits in the development of literature under market economy and find a "breach" for the literature development in the plural linguistic context.
