Wheel set is one of the most important inter-changeable rolling components in the vehicle. It affects the safety of railway transportation directly. Our country's train vehicle departments have specific standards about wear and tear limit of all kinds of wheels. Measuring parameters of wheel set is a necessary step for protecting transportation safety. But in our country, the measurement was done by using hands mostly. With the speedup of train, the current detecting methods could not meet the requirements of wheel maintenance. A more accurate and reliable automatic detecting method and system of wheel set parameters was necessary. The huge progress made in the industrial technology and information technology as well as the openning-up of the market have ushered in unprecedented opportunities for the application computer control technology and information technology to the railway system.Based on problems of the wheel measuring equipment, this thesis use an original method called the Collision Vibration Energy Transmission Time-Difference Analysis Method.On the basis of the system goal and designing requirements, this thesis presents the design schema of the system model. In the design of the system constituting structure, this system has more anti-disturb capability and durable characteristics than other systems due to we adopt the sensor of electric eddy current. The introduction of the positioning sensor makes our software easier. And setting redirector as the unit of collecting data block, this induce to cut down collecting data quantity, simplify the method of disposes of data, judge the positioning of the tread irregularities wheel more nicety. We adopt the halt sampling arithmetic to reduce inutility dataquantify that others system sampling by manual stop or stop through estimating stopping time.In the design of the system' s software, this thesis adopts the first sampling last processing scheme. The module of data sampling uses for sampling data of every sensor, inspecting state of sensors and judging stop . The data processing module was designed to draw vibration waves, position the tread irregularities wheel and the computing of the tread irregularities depth. As the main program was written by VB , but the data sampling module and the data processing module were written by VC++, so we packaged the two module into DLL to make VB can use it just like a function of itself.We tested the system in the lab. The results prove the success of the design. Because of absence spot testing environment, some of parameters of computing irregularities depth can not be set accord with practice.
