As a critical technology for enterprise to manage and control business process, Workflow has become the framework on model analysis , establishment .management and emulation. In the current research field, Distributed workflow has been given more attention and the difficulties of the research are the reliability and extension.This paper describes an implementation of Mobile Agent-based Distributed Workflow System. Let mobile agent be the Bridge among all the Workflow Server by making using of its' character of Autonomy, self-Adapted, Intelligence and mobility and so on. Mobile agent migrates from one Workflow Server to another Workflow Server according to certain routing policy, and each one will do independently till the instance of workflow procedure running over. By this way, it not only lightens load of single Workflow Server and cost of communication, but also avoids system's collapse because of single node's failure and improves system's reliability.Firstly, this paper analysis the deficiency of the traditional WfMS ( Workflow Management System ), then research on some relevant aspects of building distributed WfMS based on Mobile Agent. The main content is as follows:1. The process meta-model and total architecture of distributed WfMS based on Mobile Agent are illustrated.2. Follow WFMC-TC-1012 and WFMC-TC00-1003 norms, propose the solutions for process definition, release and distributed running of process instance based on mobile agent.3. Some relevant aspects' resolutions such as process monitor, management, and simple exception handling are illustrated.On the basis of the above research, developed a Mobile Agent-based Distributed Workflow Management System (ADWfMS ). In this paper, the analysis and design of it's some relevant parts are illustrated, in the same time, some key relevant technologies are analysised.
