A Power-efficient Multicast Algorithm For Mobile Ad Hoc Network

Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) are self-organizing, dynamic topology networks formed by a collection of mobile nodes through radio. The wireless networking environment presents formidable challenges to the study of multicast problems, especially in terms of connection maintenance mechanism and power consumption. This paper focuses on these problems, and proposes an efficient routing protocol called power-efficient preferred link-based protocol (PPL). The performance metric used to evaluate is energy-efficient and connection maintenance. The result shows that our algorithm performs better than other algorithm in energy-efficient and efficiency of data packet delivery ratio. It is supported by simulated experiment that PPL has longer work time than previous protocols. It's because that PPL considered remain energy of nodes besides link cost between nodes and PPA selected the best path. And for more efficient of data packet delivery ratio, the strategy of link lost takes good use of LNT table for local reconfiguration and reduces the broadcast of control packets.
