Research And Realization Of Traffic Information Acquisition System For Freeway Based On Video Detection

Traffic information acquisition is the key technology in Intelligent Transportation System. Collecting timely and effectively the traffic parameters is the main purpose of traffic information acquisition system. Compared with inductive loop, sonar and microwave detectors, video detection has many advantages such as easy installation, operation and maintenance, low installation cost, wider view areas and more traffic parameters. The research area is related to image processing, computer vision, and pattern recognition. It will be the trend of traffic parameters acquisition technologies and has been paid more and more attention in ITS.The dissertation is based on an applied project from one Intelligent Transport Research Institute. Our aim is to construct a traffic information acquisition system for freeway based on video detection. The main contents are as follows:1. Traffic video acquisition and transmission.2. Model of vehicle detection and tracking for freeway.3. Vehicle detection algorithm based on virtual-loop and multi-information fusion.4. Fast vehicle tracking method according to the features of the vehicles on freeway.5. Traffic parameters acquisition and traffic accident detection.Both study on the key technologies and the optimization and realization of the system have been implemented. At present, the production introduced in this dissertation has been put into actual application with a satisfied effect.
