Recently, with the development of Semiconductor Technology and Power Electronics Technology, Power Electronics Technology has been used widely in the field of high-voltage power supply. The high-voltage switching power supply (HVSPS) with Power Electronics Technology has higher frequency, smaller weight and volume, higher efficiency. It also has the advantages of high control accuracy, high stabilization, low ripple and so on. It is the developmental trend of the high-voltage power supply.The Pulse Step Modulation (PSM) technology is the combination of the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and the Step Modulation (SM). And it is an important technology which is used in high-voltage, high-power switching power supply systems. The HVSPS based on PSM technology has the advantages of simple topology, high output voltage and power, continuous adjustment of output voltage, high stabilization, high efficiency and so on. Nowadays, the PSM technology is used mainly in high-voltage DC power supply. And its output voltage is from tens of kilovolts to hundreds of kilovolts, output power is from hundreds of kilowatts to thousands of kilowatts.The HVSPS based on PSM technology basically consists of a number in series connected switching modules. The circuit topology and the operating principle are introduced and analyzed in detail in the paper. Its output voltage is the combination of SM voltage and PWM voltage. It has smaller output filter inductance in the same condition. And it is important for the dynamic performance of the system. The control strategy of the system is studied based on MATLAB/SIMULINK. The dynamic performance of the system is analyzed in different controllers. At last, the principle of the PSM technology is verified on an experimental prototype. |
