It's important to make the distribution of divisional-phase medium visibleand flow-pattern identifiable for economical resource exploitation, safe workand industrial process control in modern industrial field. Electrical CapacitanceTomography(ECT) is an effective means to realize two-phase medium on-lineidentification. But there aren't papers of it applied to conveying belt safetymeasurement. This paper validates the feasibility that ECT can be used forconveyer belt safety measurement and brings forward the way to realize it bystudying the square ECT system.(1)A new idea is put forward to investigate and solve the problem ofconveying belt safety measurement. Firstly, a model of square ECT sensorsystem is established, then the sensor system is analysised with finite elementmethod and each electrode couple's capacitance is calculated and normalized.Image is reconstructed with weighted LBP algorithm and BP three-layer neuralnetwork algorithm. Considering the image edge distortion aroused by soft fieldeffect, the image is reconstructed by improved weighted LBP algorithm, whichis proved to have higher image resolving power than the old.(2)Basing on the image analysis of square ECT system and the study inimage reconstruction algorithm. A investigative way is put forward to evolvesquare ECT system into rectangle with bigger length and breadth ECT system.Contraposing the distribution character of steel-cord in conveying belt, theconventional plotting to pels unit is improved to plotting to pels block. Image ofcross section is reconstructed by improved LBP algorithm.(3)In certain conditions, electrode boards are sticked symmetrically on theboth surfaces of the conveying belt. Cross-section image is reconstructed bythreshold value binary sequence coding which is based on the model. The sensorsystem is ameliorated to the one with electrode boards on one surface, simultaneously, the binary sequence code is corrected. Horizontal image ofconveying belt is constructed finally basing on abundant cross-section image bycomputer simulation, which settles the basis for realizing on-line timelymeasuring of steel-cord distribution in conveying belt.
