Active magnetic bearing (AMB) has great significance. Active magnetic bearing, a high-powered integrative machine-electricity bearing which uses attractive electromagnetic forces to make a rotor suspend in the air without a mechanical contact, has brought a bearing revolution to the world. Compared with traditional bearings, AMB is provided with more advantages and is supposed to have a bright applicational prospect. However, since AMB research has stepped into many technology fields, such as mechanism, electronism, computer science, cybernetics, sensor, etc., so far no perfect theory and designing method can be provided. Especially, no successful domestic application of AMB has been achieved. Consequently, it is extremely urgent for us to put more attention to the research on AMB system. Amongst all parts of an AMB system, the implementation component, also called power amplifier in this paper, is a significant one because it may remarkably influence the operation performance of the AMB system. Thus, the designing of power amplifier is supposed to be one of the keystones and difficulties .This paper mainly discusses the research and development of the AMB embedded full-digital power amplifier based on DSP. The worldwide AMB development status is analysed and a conclusion of the current problems and difficulties in AMB system designing is given. It establishes the single degree-of-freedom mathematical model and state equation of initiative AMB grounded on scattered control theory and raises a new kind of power amplifier of AMB. This embedded full-digital power amplifier employs TMS320LF2407A as its main processor, in which the Multi-task operating system-uC/OS-Ⅱ is applied. Such operating system includes processes of PID algorithm implemented by the Power amplifier system, changeful parameters algorithm implemented by the digital power amplifier, LCD display and serial interface communication. In addition, power conversion circuits have been changed in order to increase its efficiency.Digital design means is introduced to optimized power amplifier of AMB system for the first time. The experiment result showed that the embedded full-digital power amplifier based on DSP can make the magnetic bearing stable. It has many advantages, such as better tracing performance, low noise, great rigidity, high control precision, etc. The circuit and software are divided into different modules according to the functions. Software engineering method is employed in order to realize structured program and modular function. Such achievements make good basis for gradually expanding functions in the future.
