The subject of adaptive filters constitutes an important part of statistical signal processing. Because we do not have enough information to design fix coefficient digital filter or the design rules will change while it runs normally, we need to study adaptive filter. Whenever there is a requirement to process signals that result from operation in an environment of unknown statistics, the use of an adaptive filter offers an attractive solution to the problem as it usually provides a significant improvement in performance over the use of a fixed filter designed by conventional methods. Furthermore, the use of adaptive filters provides new signal-processing capabilities that would not be possible otherwise.The thesis first introduces the important meaning in the studying of the adaptive filter, and then presents the basic knowledge, the algorithms and the design of linear adaptive filter. The second chapter discusses the LMS, RLS, QR-RLS and inverse QR_RLS algorithm, giving simulation results of LMS and RLS algorithm's performance. The third chapter introduces some knowledge of the design in the FPGA. Finally, the forth chapter bring out a improving LMS, then simulates the adaptive filter with maxpluxâ…ˇ, the results of function-simulation and timing-simulation both prove the proposed method is right.
