| With the persistent development of Internet, more and more problems are founded in the traditional two-tier based database accessing system. Three-tier architecture becomes the mainly popular technology in the field. J2EE (Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition) is produced under this kind of environment. J2EE is a model of a kind of brand-new concept put out by SUN Microsystems Inc. It is for supporting the scalable, expanded, multilevel enterprise about e-commerce to use the system and design. The goal of J2EE is to define a standard of functionality that helps meet these challenges and thus increases the competitiveness of enterprises in the information economy. The J2EE platform supports distributed applications, and it simplifying development through a component-based application model. As the kernel of J2EE platform, EJB has many advantages and increasingly become the main choice of server-side component model for n-tier, distributes system. This paper begins with the relative knowledge about three-tier architecture and its advantage than two-tier architecture, and explain the reason why should choose three-tier architecture in the development of a application system. After that, the paper does the entire analysis and research of the J2EE/EJB technology.
