H.264/AVC, as the latest video coding standard, is proposed by the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group and the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group.H.264/AVC represents a number of advances in video coding technology, in terms of both coding efficiency and flexibility for effective use over a broad variety of networks and application domains. This new features provide approximate 50% bit rate saving with equivalent perceptual quality relative to the performance of prior standards.As the development of 3G,multimedia devices will appear at many application, such as video phone, video conference, digital TV, wireless communication system. At present, digital signal processor (DSP) is developing rapidly, which make it possible to process multimedia signal in real time. Therefore, it is worth researching the implement and optimization of H.264 encoder/decoder based on DSP.Robust and post-processing of the signal are important in video communication. The common post-processing is error concealment. It exploits the correlation of picture in temporal and spatial domains to eliminate the influence of error. It is not needed to add any redundancies in compressed bit-stream. Some error concealment mechanisms are introduced in H.264 decoder, which improve the subjective and objective effect of the pictures.In this paper, based on the research of standard, we have finished two part of work. 1. The author researches systematically in error concealment for decoder, presents a mechanism to resolve the full frame loss in wireless application.2. A H.264 baseline profile decoder has been realized base on Tl DM642. The author gives some optimization measure and result in the paper.
