The embedded IP Video Phone based on H.323 protocols provides multimedia communications over the packet based network, and can be operrated easily as a normal telephone. It is an important development direction of the communication technology. The H.323 protocol is the standard protocol of network based multimedia communication by ITU. The software design and implementation of IP video phone is described detailedly.Chapter 1 provides the development of the IP video phone, and gives the significance of the research work..Chapter 2 introduces the H.323 protocol and the platform of software design. The architecture of H.323 protocols and the components of the H.323 system are presented in details. The software is implemented using the H323 toolkit and Microwindows on the ucLinux operating system.Chapter 3 presents the architecture of the IP video phone, including hardware architecture design and software architecture design.Chapter 4 is focused on the software design of IP video phone, including three parts: H.323 module design, GUI module design, and module interface design. H.323 module discusses 5 sub-modules and describes the call flow using sequence diagrams. GUI design includes the base classes the message mechanism and the user interface design. Module interface design includes the interface between the H.323 module and the other modules.Chapter 5 discusses the test of IP video phone, including the software test and the function test.Chapter 6 gives the main research conclusion and the prospect of further research work.
