Nowadays, the main research direction of medical image processing is to combine the computer image processing technology with modern medical science, it can realize computer-aided treatment in medical science. In the field of plastic surgery, this advanced technology can be used for operation design and simulation, prosthetic prefabrication and so on. As computer technology has more advantages than the other methods, it has been one of the research directions in the field of plastic surgery since 1980s. Based on the knowledge of computer graphics, physiology and elasticity, the technologies of 2D image deformation and 3D synthesis of realistic human face are researched further in this thesis. In the aspect of 2D image deformation, a new image filling algorithm on the basis of the thought of region division is presented in this thesis. In this algorithm, firstly, the complex region is divided into regular rectangle region and little block of irregular region. Then, aiming at irregular region, a new pixel filling algorithm based on prediction presented in this thesis is used. This algorithm can be used to fill in any desired region and its filling efficiency is close to that of standard rectangle filling algorithm. In addition, all algorithms discussed in the thesis are compared and analyzed. Their advantages, disadvantages, applicable region and time complexity are clearly pointed out and the experimental results are given. In the aspect of 3D synthesis of realistic human face, firstly, the photos of specific human face are modified in order to make them the same size. Secondly, through global transformation and local transformation, a specific 3D human facial model is attained from a general human facial model. Then, two display methods which are Phong light and shade as well as flat light and shade are adopted to acquire realistic 3D synthesized human facial model. Finally, the research work done in this thesis has been simplified summarized, and the research direction of 2D image deformation of and 3D synthesis of human face in the future has been provided.
