Based on the software engineering science, the design and realization of information system and the basic theory of computer safety, the paper discusses in details the design and realization of the applications on Intranet and the safety of local area network and database combining with the actual requirements of Dachang Mine.This paper is composed of six parts. The first one introduces the basic concepts of information system, and discusses synthetically the origin, development, application and development trend of the information system and the necessary of keeping information and database in safety. The second part presents the background of geologic conformation and the distribution of the main resources of Dachang Mine. In addition, it analyses the feasibility of building information system in the mine from the aspects of economy and techniques and dissertates the significance of developing the information system. With the actual requirements of Dachang Mine and the design approach of software engineering, the third part puts forward the developing goals and principles of the information system. Furthermore, it designs the general functions and the network configuration and brings forwards the effective technique of network. The fourth part is mainly concerned with the realization of the information system, including the development environment, development tools, the general design and realization of database and the transform of data format. Based on the safety of local area network and database, the fifth part analyzes the significance of safety system and some safety measures adopted usually, including the user- management, identity-validation and visitation-control and so on. At last, it argues the safety measures adopted by the information system in Dachang Mine. The last part summarizes the researches that have been make, especially the characteristics of the system. Also, it analyzes the remained problems and the functions that need to be developed about the system in the near future.This system has the same style as Windows. The investment on both software and hardware is low, and the function and reliability are strong. Also the structure of thesystem is simple and the operation on it is very easy. It provides successfully the Dachang Mine with an effective tool to prospect, manage production, heighten efficiency, and increase benefit as well. The system makes it convenient for each department to manage and apply the daily. It makes full use of the advantages of computer by using it to replace a lot of fussy manual work. At last, it heightens production efficiency and the value in use of geological information and realizes the dynamical management on geological resource information.
