With the rapid development of modern computer and Internet technology, it is more easier to access, duplicate and spread the digital multimedia works, which makes the copyright of digital works damaged seriously and heavily damages the benefits of the owner. Multimedia intellectual property protection becomes an urgent problem to be solved. As a new and effective approach to solve the problem of copyright protection, digital watermarking has been a hotspot in academic field.This thesis describes the concept, features, classifications, applications of video watermarking, and the existing typical video watermarking algorithm. A novel video watermarking algorithm in DCT domain based on the original video is proposed. Simulation results show that the algorithm has a desirable invisibility and good robustness.MPEG-4 is a new object-based video compression coding standard, which utilizes the human visual system. At present the digital video watermarking algorithms based on MPEG-4 compression standard have become a hot research topic. According to features of the MPEG-4 video compression standard, we studied a watermarking algorithm based on MPEG-4. A watermark is embedded into the low and middle frequency coefficients of the video luminance component by using the human visual characteristics. This algorithm meets the requirements of invisibility and increase of code rates.
