According to the tank process control requirements, a tank farm monitoring system based on PLC is designed and developed for the upgrade project of a refinery oil tank automatic control system.After the research on mainstream control program, PLC + IPC monitoring program is chosen for the tank control system. Through further analysis of process of the tank farm instrumentation working conditions and control requirements, the automatic loop (including the points and control programs) is designed and the selection of instruments is determined. PLC system uses SIEMENS S7-300 series. The configuration of the hardware is: 314C-2DP CPU module, ET200M distributed I/O module and other AI/AO, DI/DO modules. STEP 7 programming software and WinCC HMI configuration software is installed. Lower control program is designed on STEP 7 platform and flowcharts, data management, human-computer interaction and trend, alarms and the other upper configuration are completed by WinCC software. Hardware is installed on the spot and software is downloaded. After that system is powered and field instruments are linked to PLC to complete the entire control system test and debugging and ultimately the system runs into operation.Through the design and implementation of the control system, automatic management is improved effectively and labor intensity and the rate of accidents are reduced.
