The planar stratified structure is more and more widely used in electromagnetic field of geophysical probing, remote sensing, microstrip antenna and MMIC. Nowadays, how to analyze the EM characteristics of this type of structure fast and accurately is becoming a hot topic. The spectral domain method(SDM) is chosen to analyze the structure in this paper, and the mixed potential integral equation is derived due to its well singular property, then the spatial MoM based on RWG is applied. The method is well-behaved and has the ability to model arbitrary PEC shapes.Firstly, a complete set of spectral green functions about multilayered media is derived by the spectral domain immittance approach(SDI), hence, the space domain green function of single-layered structure is calculated by the discrete complex image method(DCIM),and the details of GPOF and the technology of finding poles are introduced. Besides, a new method to calculate the residues is proposed in order to avoid the uncertainties when programming. Secondly, the complete procedure to analyze the microstrip antennas is described by combining SDM and MOM. After the RWG is applied, the singularities of the impedance matrix element are resolved by the method of dividing one triangle element into 9 sub-regions. lastly, a program is developed to calculate the radiation and scattering characteristics and the results are well agree with the published, which demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.
