Mobile ad hoc network (MANET) is a non-center, multi-hop, self-organization wireless communication network with numbers of mobile nodes acting as both a terminal and a router. It does not depend on pre-existing network infrastructure such as base stations or access points, which is diffenent from traditional wireless local area network (LAN). As it runs with the characteristics of mobility, reciprocity and autonomy, mobile ad hoc network has a very wide range of applications, especially in some special applications occasions like disaster relief mission, battlefield monitoring, intelligent network system etc. With the development of technology, it is possible to use unmanned aircraft vehicles (UAVs) for forest fire monitoring and early warning. A number of UAVs constitute a UAV swarm with stable network topology, which is responsible for forest fire real-time monitoring and transferring data to the console. The console sends command parameters to the UAV swarm in order to control their flight status. The nodes and communication between nodes constitute"UAV Swarm - Console"network. Because this network is vulnerable to environmental factors in the high-speed operation state, we need to build a mobile ad hoc network communication platform to effectively support wireless communication, thereby enhancing the performance of network communication. In this paper, based on the existing standard and technologies of wireless an hoc network, we establish a adaptable mobile ad hoc network communication platform for forest file monitoring and warning aplications. In the first part we propose a communication platform model according to theoretical research, and then test network performance such as throughput, effective data rate, end to end delay and packet loss rate by using OPNET simulations platform. Finally we build a test system to verify the availablility and reliability of this communication platform. Experimantal results show that the proposed platform for mobile ad hoc network communication programs meet the technical requirements.
