As an important area of multimedia communication, video communication has been more attention to the people. With the issuance of 3G licenses in China, people's growing concern for it while they have increased demand for wireless video communication services. Video communications with a large amount of information, transmission of high bandwidth, and high performance requirements on the network, while the H.264 coding standard with high compression efficiency, error recovery ability, etc., can be well applied to a wireless network. So to study the application of the H.264 in wireless video communications is of practical significance.H.264/AVC is ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) and ISO / IEC of the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) to develop research, adapted to a new generation of low bit-rate transmission of compressed video coding standard. First of all papers on the H.264 video compression coding standard analysis, given the framework of H.264 video codec, and then focuses on analysis of H.264 encoding four core technologies: intra-prediction coding, inter-frame predictive coding, integer transform and quantization and deblocking filter, and motion estimation, which conducted in-depth study.Motion estimation is the complexity of the encoding process to calculate the largest and most time-consuming, and most important part of it. To improve the efficiency of motion estimation, so that the search algorithm for motion estimation process more robust, faster, more efficient video compression coding is the focus of the study. First, are summed up with a representative of several fast search algorithm, and then the entire pixel H.264 fast motion search algorithm is proposed to improve, and proposed the fast search algorithm based on threshold decision, and can be achieved in the encoder combined with UMHexagonS search algorithm. The experimental results show that for video surveillance, video telephony, video sequences with a small amount of exercise, including the characteristics of a large number of background block applications, the algorithm has greatly enhanced video encoding speed guaranteed under the premise of the performance of video quality.At the same time, analysis of the Wireless channel coding and error control techniques, in particular, summed up the error resilience transmission techniques of H.264. Finally explained H.264 video communication systems in wireless applications, and given a example for H.264 in the wireless LAN transmission system and wireless network video surveillance application.
