Due to the rapid increase of nonlinear load,there are more and more harmonic that produced pours into electrical network, Consequently, the electrical network is polluted. Active power filter (APF) can effectively trace and compensate harmonic which varying in frequency and amplitude. So APF has become an important choice of improving power quality.The paper discusses the basic principle of Series Hybrid Active Power Filter's(SHAPF) configuration overall. In this paper we discusses harmonics detecting methods,controlling methods,the SHAPF's main circuit and some parameters in detail. In harmonics detecting part, we discuss a real time detecting method of harmonic voltage based on the instantaneous reactive power theory. By analyzing the simulation results, it can effectively detect voltage type harmonic. In the harmonic voltage controlling part, we analyse the characteristic and disadvantage of triangular wave compare control method, a novel control strategy that is a new fuzzy immune PID method has been presented, which can effectively trace and compensate harmonic. On the Series Hybrid Active Power Filter DC-side voltage's control, a novel control method was presented, which is adaptive fuzzy PI control. The controller can change PI parameter automatically improve the dynamic response of the system. It is better than PI controller with high dynamic and good performance.The three-phase Series Hybrid Active Power Filter was simulated in Matlab/Simulink7.0. By analyzing the simulations results, we can see that the Series Hybrid Active Power Filter Based on Fuzzy Immune-PID Control has a high capability of exact and a good real time performance. A comparative study on the between different control approaches' compensation performances shows that the Series Hybrid Active Power Filter based on new methods can eliminate harmonic current effectively.
