The choice of address code is an important practical issue of optical code division multiple access communication, which affects the reliability, capacity and the effectiveness of the system. In general, a good address code should satisfy requirements such as larger autocorrelation peak, smaller side-lobe and smaller correlation peak. Optical orthogonal code is an address code which could meet these requirements. This paper summarizes the existing optical orthogonal code design method, introduces the concept of optical orthogonal code pair, and combines the characteristics of optical orthogonal codes. We research a new address code sequences-optical orthogonal code pair that improves the existing optical orthogonal code design project. On this basis, a series of theory on optical orthogonal code pair is researched. The main tasks are as follows:Firstly, the concept of sequence pairs, the concept sequence pairs set and the concept optical orthogonal codes are introduced, then the nature of the autocorrelation function and crosscorrelation function of sequence pairs and sequence pairs set are demenstrated. Accroding to the theory, we researched a new method of (n,ω, 2) optical orthogonal code on the structure of optical orthogonal codes. We analysed some examples of this code.Sencondly, we research a new address code-optical orthogonal code pair. Several transformation properties of optical orthogonal code pair are validated. Two methods of construcing optical orthogonal code pair are researched. One is based on optical orthogonal code, and the other is based on difference array. At the same time, we also describe a method of (2n, 2ω, 2ω, 2) optical orthogonal code pair based on (n,ω,ω, 1) optical orthogonal code pair.Finally, we also describe the application of optical orthogonal code pair, which is in the optical code division multiple access concisely. And we also analyses the performance of the system. In this paper, optical orthogonal code pair is a special set of sequence pairs which is a good set of autocorrelation and the cross correlation in the form.
