Because the single test method can not meet the requirements of antenna far-field test in the ultra-wide band, after the discussion and comparison of slant range method, elevated range method, pulsed measurement method and ground-reflection range method, a mixture test model of the elevated range and ground-reflection range has been studied and discussed deeply in this paper, which has been successfully applied to a construction project of an antenna far-field test range.Based on the characteristics of outdoor far-field range test for ultra-wide band from P-band (0.23GHz) to Ka-band (40GHz), by theoretical analyses and geometric optics methods, this paper conducted studies and comparisons to the P-band reflection controls and the practicability of broadband system of several outdoor far-field test methods, including slant range method, elevated range method, pulsed measurement method and ground-reflection range method. It is concluded that a single-test method cannot satisfy the required test bandwidth specified fore forth. Furthermore, an elevated range and ground-reflection range combined prototype, with consideration of real circumstance and practicability of the system, has been adopted to design the ultra-wide working band antenna far-field test range comprehensively. This paper provides a complete parameter design and system configuration scenario of a far-field test range, analyzed and evaluated the major problems of this test field. The dynamic range of the test system has been estimated. As the real measurement yard is not an ideality place, FEKO is used to configure a simulated real yard for a transmit/receive antenna system, wherein by simulating to demonstrate the affection on the test parameter from high voltage transmission line and non-standard yard. The article figures out solutions to negative the affection including by installing wave-absorbing shield. The thesis is valuable in application of engineering,as it configuring both real site situation and practicability of the ultra-wide band system.
