Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN) is a kind of network platform which is composed by large number of small size, low-cost and wireless communication sensors. Synchronization is an important technique of WSN. It is needed in many application of WSN.For example,enviorment monitoring and data fusion of sensor nodes.As an important application of WSN,targets tracing is also need the help of synehronization.In this paper,we research on the importance of synehronization in the targets tracing.We also design one kind of low-energery cost,simple,effective synehronization method which can be used in target tracing and ensure the accuracy of time in the application.First,we analyse different kinds of problems in targets tracing without syschronization detailedly including node targets locating syschronization problems, node targets tracing syschronization problems,group targets locating syschronization problems and group targets tracing syschronization problems.We also analyse the cause of these problems.Then, for these synchronization problems in targets tracing ,we propose one kind of solving strategy that according to the difference of node roles nodes realize different synchronization methods.Based on this solving strategy,we design the synchronization mechanism named synchronization mechanism based on node's role.According to the difference of nodes'roles,we hope to choose the best fit synchronization mechanism for every node.Futher more,a criterion is proposed for evaluating this mechanism. After that, according to the ideas above, we simulate the main part of these algorithms, and then analysis its results.At last,we design and realize the targets tracing system based on synchronization which is used for testing and verifying the feasibility of time synchronization mechanism based on node's role which is proposed in this paper.
