Research and simulation of clutter characteristics is important and fundamental for the manufacture of radar system. Take the spaceborne radar for example, when the radar works in the"look down mode", the ground clutter is the setting of target detection in all range gates. Furthermore, the simulation method of clutter is various for different radar systems. At present, as widely using of new radar systems, such as spaceborne radar, the research and calculate of clutter model for spaceborne radar is one of the important issues in the development of spaceborne radar. The goal of the paper is to establish spaceborne radar clutter data simulation subsystem by computer simulating on MATLAB platform. After analyzing the range-doppler image-forming principle of SAR, some common range-doppler imaging algorithms were elucidated emphatically in this article, and then the point target and the real data of SAR were imaged. To obtain the echo data of spaceborne SAR, a direct simulation method of spaceborne SAR echo data based on the airborne SAR real data was put forward, and the point target and the simulated spaceborne SAR echo data were imaged based on the further study on the range-doppler imaging algorithms of spaceborne SAR , so the experiment verifies the effectiveness of the simulated data and feasibility of this method. On this basis, a fast simulation method of PD radar clutter data specific to the particular field was put forward addedly, and the fast simulation of airborne and spaceborne PD radar clutter data was achieved to. This simulation experiment proves the effectiveness of this method, and the simulation shows that the new method is simpler and rapider in process than the traditional echo method.
