Since the inception of computers, the software experience from the machine language, assembly language development to the present high-level language, the abstract level of software development is being improved. This means that developers are increasingly concerned about the issue itself rather than the details of technical implementation. For the trends of software development, Object Management Group (OMG) proposed model-driven architecture (MDA), to meet the challenge of incompatible platforms and the deficiencies of middleware technology exist in the systems integration and interoperability. MDA leads to a new period that software development methods change from code-centric to model-centric. However, as a general-purpose software development methodology, MDA lacks of development support in specific areas, so the model integrated computing (MIC) came into being, which has received widespread attention and constantly improve deepened, become a hotspot.MIC focuses on model representation, composition, analysis and control, which runs through the entire system development life cycle, including specification, design, development, validation, integration and maintenance. It provides abstract syntax and models customized to achieve modeling and realization diversification of domain application. MIC has a good application prospects in domain-specific modeling.This article focuses on model integrated computing theory, highlight the advantage through a detailed comparison with model driven architecture and domain-specific modeling, detailed study MIC-based domain specific system development process, generic modeling environment and other development tools. This paper attempts to design a model validation methods based on Petri nets and code generation system, and proves them in real applications later.Finally, the whole research work of this paper is summed up and further developments for research are prospected in the paper.
