With great development of information technology and computer science,handheld embedded devices have been brought into all aspect in our lives,and play a important role in more fields.Therefore,it has been a technology trend that general computer system would be replaced by miniaturized and portable changed embedded device in some professional field now.This study took the designing of a intelligent grading system as the research background, analysised the development and both advantages disadvantages of intelligent grading system wherever domestic or oversea, adopted a solution of a design for ARM-Linux embedded system, after surveyed and analysised to the similar embedded system.This hardware system can be used as a re-development basis to add more functions.After illustrated the selection of critical technology that the design adopted, this study described the design and development of a embedded intelligent grading system on 3 aspects which include hardware designing, embedded OS transplanting and software function realization.In the part of hardware designing, it introduces the design of the hardware circuit, include memory, communication device and human-machine interface, and the circuit diagrams were given.In the part of embedded OS transplanting,the steps of creating a embedded OS (Linux) has been described in detail, such as creating a cross-compile environment,transplanting the bootloader (vivi) and Linux kernel ,transplanting the device driver(LCD DM9000 & Touch-Screen) and building up a root file system.In the part of application software , QT/Embedded was selected as the GUI of the system.Moreover the application research of communication was taken in order to insure the reliability of data-gram transmission under UDP protocol, while system cost increase rarely. A re-send mechanism under UDP protocol was analysised, and a method to determine the re-send times setting was given.After a communication experience was taken in a poorer network environment, the result was analysised . The application software was programmed base on this analysis, and system functions were realized.At the end of the study, this thesis summarizes the completed works,points something that need to improve,proposes the further work, and the improved method has been given too.
