TV Violence And Children

Along the Cultivation Theory of Gerbner and the Social Learning Theory of Bandrua and the Family Communication Patters Theory of Chaffee, the current study is an attempt to explore the relationship between the family communication and the children's affection of TV violence, the children's imitation of TV violence. Using the theory construct, consisting of family communication patterns, affection of TV violence, imitation of TV violence, it provides evidences of the influence which has long been speculated theoretically.The study takes empirical approach to assess, analyze and compare the children's affection of TV violence, the children's imitation of TV violence, the distribution of FCP, the relationship between FCP and children's affection of TV violence, the children's imitation of TV violence. Eight hypotheses on the FCPs'influence on children's affection of TV violence, the children's imitation of TV violence are tested.It finds that (1) The difference of FCP to the children's imitation of TV violence are significant; (2) The children's affection of TV violence and the children's imitation of TV violence are correlated significantly; (3) The Laissez-faire FCP and the Consensual FCP are in the majority of the distribution of FCP. Nevertheless, the study is unable to offer any insight for understanding on the difference of FCP to the children's affection of TV violence.As the first study of this kind, the study attempts to find a path of children's TV violence intervention by using the FCP theory.
