In radar software system, many operating systems use Windows operating system. However, Windows Operating System is not able to satisfy with some applications which need higher real-time requirements, because Windows Operating System is non-real-time. But the efficiency of research and development in Windows Operating System is very high, because it has a great number of advantages which other operating systems can not transcend, such as the convenience of man-machine exchange interface, the support of mass third-party controls. At the same time, it is not easy to write hardware drivers owing to the encapsulation of the hardware by Windows Operating System. There are a lot of do-it-yourself computer cards in radar system, so the load how to write these card drivers is very heavy. It demands us to use a suitable technology to solve the requirements and troubles above.In the development of radar system, we successfully use RTX to solve the problem of lacking real-time in Windows Operating System, and at the same time, it is of convenience to control computer hardware by RTX. (We no need to develope drivers.) The response time of Windows system to a message or an interrupt is cut from 20us to 5us by using RTX extension, and the confirmation of response time is shorten from 80us to 5us. (The confirmation of response time is a significant Operating System real-time standard.) It means that an interrupt message can be responded after 20-100us in Windows system, but most interrupt messages can be responded after 5-10us by using RTX. It is of importance for the design of hardware control signal schedule in radar system. RTX allows users to visit hardware ports directly, and it is convenient to write programs of hardware control (instead of drivers). As the result of RTX is an extension of Windows system, it can directly call for Windows functions and be called for by Windows programs. RTX programs and Windows programs can freely send messages and share data each other. It is good for solving the lack of real-time and the problems of hardware visit, and it holds the advantages of development in Windows system by using RTX technology to develop radar systems. It proves that after unifying operating interfaces based on Windows system and real-time control radar systems based on VxWorks system to Windows system by using RTX technology, the developed radar system's real-time requirement is satisfied, and the system complexity is reduced, and the reliability is improved. Meanwhile, the system maintenance is improved, and the develop troubles are reduced, and the develop efficiency is boosted, and the system framework is more suitable, and operating is more convenient. The expectant targets are reached.
