Nowadays, 3Dterrain has been used widely in 3D games, virtual reality, a flight simulator, military exercise and GIS etc. Each application and research fields, terrain visualization concept gradually formed. Along with the computer science and computer graphics and the development of 3D terrain making software field, greatly expand the application range of virtual 3D terrain, and users can terrain scene interactive roaming, of empty asked analysis, planning and decision-making and so on, all have the important meaning.This paper studies the main content is 3D terrain generation of related techniques, 3d terrain modeling methods, and how to realize 3D terrain visualization. In this paper introduces digital model and ground surface modeling, after several ways of key research terrain representation model, the main complex terrain model simplified, 3D terrain generation simulation modeling, dynamic multiresolution of terrain for rendering, and visual field rendering undertake eliminate, enhance rendering efficiency, increase roaming of fluency.Main research work are:1 analyzes two fractal terrain modelling the basic principle and model, analyzed and compared the advantages and disadvantages of different modeling methods, and the modeling method is simplified, select the appropriate modeling method.2 from practical Angle discusses a series of 3D terrain display is proposed coordinates perspective transformation mathematical model in theory is tight, can produce various perspectives under the condition of the three-dimensional topography, lighting model can lifelike display surface topography of ups and downs, using color synthesis and graphic symbols library increased terrain of stereo effect, rich information.3, this experiment realized to 3D terrain modeling on the topography, dynamically multiresolution rendering, increased the rendering effects, and visual field rendering undertake eliminate, improving the rendering efficiency, the experimental writing, and testing in vc + + openGL.The experiment has proved that using dynamic multiresolution increase rendering effects at the same time, eliminate the render of the display area, improving the efficiency of the terrain rendering, enhance the efficiency of roaming, achieve the expected effect.
