The Political Tendency Analysis Of Environment News

This paper makes a research of environment news of People's Daily from 1984 to 2009, analyzing the style, register and genre structures, which reveals the political tendency of environment news and explores the ideology reason of this tendency. The paper is divided into five parts:theory foundation, style analysis, register analysis, genre analysis and summary.The prologue dwells on the worth of this topic, the reason of choosing People's Daily and the research method.In chapter one, it is the theory foundation, which introduces transitivity, register, genre and genre intertextuality theories. The paper adopts the structure of style, register and genre analysis. Because the style analysis is of the level of expressing meaning by words, sentences and vocabulary,the register analysis of the level of context, the genre analysis of the level of culture. This structure makes analysis more and deeper, in order to research the environment news comprehensively. The style analysis, register analysis and genre analysis are respectively on the basis of transitivity theory, register theory, genre and generic intertextuality theory.In chapter two, it is the style analysis, which chooses quantitative and qualitative methods to research environment news' transitivity. By quantitative analysis, we can summarize the characteristic of environment news'transitivity from 1984 to 2009, especially verbal process's regular change. Verbal process is divided into sayer, common verb and verbiage. Sayers come from different social institutions, groups and individuals. Common verbs are consisted of direct verbs and indirect verbs. Verbiage is expressed by direct speech and indirect speech. By qualitative analysis, we can find the hidden political tendency of the texts.In chapter three, it is the register analysis. This chapter is on basis of the style analysis, which researches the text from form to function. This article summarizes the characteristic of register by exploring environment news' context of situation. The register analysis interprets the rationality of characteristics of environment news' transitivity and why register constraints the choice of the transitivity. On the basis of the style analysis, environment news' political tendency is further confirmed by the register variation. From the perspective of the register, this article explains the deep-rooted reason of environment news'political tendency.In chapter four, it is genre analysis, which emphasizes on the differences of discourse types. This article comes to an answer that different discourse types own different transitivity, especially between political news and environment news. Environment news'political tendency reflects generic intertextuality, which is the result of ideology change.In chapter five, it is the summary. It is surface that environment news'style, register and genre have changed. The real reason is that the ideology makes these changes happen.
