80% of the outside world information is got from human visual and the visual activities are important interaction ways between target user and websites. Eye movement can reflect the choice mode of the visual information and reveal psychological mechanism of cognitive processing, so eye movement research is significantly important. Applying eye movement research in web usability test can support traditional usability testing with the study of process of cognitive psychology and sufficiency quantitative analysis, meanwhile with a large number of eye movement data in basic research, eye movement research could find users'web visiting habits, preferences, interest points and etc.Based on research on the relationship with eye movement and cognitive processing and the website's elements of user experience, we could extract three methods of eye movement research in web usability test:1) Browsing habits and characteristics'cognitive study methods based on free browsing; 2) Cognitive process usability research method based on visual search,3) Cognitive process usability analysis method supporting behavioral research. According to the three methods above, this paper respectively expounds the concept, research basis, applied research object and study methods and process, of which, especially sorts and summarizes eye movement measurement indexes needed for each methods; it also discusses the analysis methods for the measurement indexes. Finally, based on a certain financial website's case study demonstrates practical application value and feasibility of the cases of the proposed three methods. In experiment design phase, the task scenario was designed according to the scenarios and mode of the three methods proposed, including free browsing task scenario, visual search task scenario and supporting behavioral research task scenario; In test conduct and statistics phase, collect and sorting eye movement data with the eye movement track equipment and its analysis software; In result analysis phase, in-depth analysis the results by single measuring index and multiple measuring indexes for each task (free browsing tasks, visual search task and supporting behavioral research task) and found cognitive laws, efficiency of visual search and cognitive usability problems. |
