Amateur radio is a popular technological activity, in which about three million people around the world are participating. It contributes colorful variability to our sports and cultural lives, and also plays an invaluable social role in disaster rescue and immergence assistance. For instance, after the earthquake, in the circumstance that general communication base stations and subscriber lines are destroyed irreversibly, rescuers can use amateur radio to acquire the emergent communication service, with the consequence of making the rescue information transferred smoothly and reliably. In addition, the intercourse activities between different amateur radio stations will also promote the understandings and friendship between countries. With amateur radio being in vigorous development in China, more and more enthusiasts are going about research and application of such a technology, and that brings a new requirement to the building of amateur radio communication infrastructures.Data store-and-forwarder on satellites, acting as the data-relay device in the amateur radio satellite communication system, is responsible for providing the essential message service to ground stations and terminal users. It works in the adverse and resource-limited out-space condition, so the design of its software system is critical to its data-relay efficiency and timeliness. This thesis centers on the design and the implementation of software system of the data store-and-forwarder on satellites, and makes deep researches and analyses to the key modules and the key algorithms. At first, the functional requirements and interactive procedures of the software system are comprehensively analyzed. Based on those analyses, this thesis gives the layered and dimensioned overall architecture, following which software designs and functional implementations of the driver modules and communication protocols in the three layers (including hardware adapter layer, data link layer and application layer) are separately described. At last, unit testing, protocol testing and integration testing for software system are conducted, ending up with some proposals for improvement.
