Nowadays, people's understanding for mobile is no longer a simple communication device, but an intelligent terminal equipted with new hardware (such as WiFi, GPS and Accelerometer) added. It also has excellent features in multimedia, Internet, localization and interaction, which leads people into a mobile Internet era. Online role playing game based on context-awareness computation gives users vivid game experience. Besides, this kind of game also creates an innovative combination method of multi-interfaces and context-awareness computation by bringing in gesture recognition concept into game control methods, which let the users feel like they are actually in the game. This thesis describes an online role playing game on Symbian platform developed by Qt, which takes the advatages of internet communications, GPS data gathering, touch screen UI and accelerometer. This game provides players with an interactive and funny virtual reality playing environment. The main contents of this thesis include: configuration of development environment, design of system architecture, client scheduling between each module, design and implementation of modules and concrete class, design and implementation of server and client communication interface, design of server database, etc.At the same time, this thesis also shows some research work on how to use mobile 3D accelerometer for dynamic gesture recognition. This research achieved good experimental results by applying the Hidden Markov Model in modeling and recognition of several frequently used gestures. Eight types of common gestures are defined in this thesis and for each gesture 120 samples are collected from mobile accelerometer,60 of them are used for modeling and the other 60 are used for gestures recongnition. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is effective to recognize different gestures by reaching an average accuracy of more than 95%.In the end of the thesis, some weakness of current system and the work that should be done in the future are given. In addition, the summary of my work and research progress during my master-degree study are listed.
