Experiment course is essential to the teaching of science and engineering major. With the successful application of virtual experiment system in distance education and the rapid development of computer collaborative technology, the research for virtual collaborative experiment draws more and more attention. The researchers hope that students'practical ability can be strengthened; students'collaborative ability and sense of compepition can be cultivated through virtual collaborative experiment. The virtual collaborative experiment system which is researched and designed in this paper is the application of CSCL in virtual experiment system. It makes it possible for more than two students in different places to complete a collaborative experiment synchronously. Students in different groups cooperate with each other and then carry out collaborative experiments according to the experiment task at any time in the system. Teachers give guidance for students to make groups and collaborative experiment, and they also correct and evaluate experiment.There are two innovative achievements in this paper:One is to propose a new concurrency control methods; The other one is to make instructional design for virtual collaborative experiment of, using instructional design pattern based on construction principle. This paper practices instructional design case asynchronously in virtual experimental system.The paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter discusses the research status, the background of subject, and the main research topics. The second chapter introduces the theoretical basis and technology basis of the research. The third chapter makes requirement analysis for virtual collaborative experiment system, which includes system prototype development and a detailed description of module function. The fourth chapter introduces the achievement of virtual collaborative experiment's key technology. The fifth chapter makes instructional design for virtual collaborative experiment of, which uses instructional design pattern based on construction principle. The sixth chapter summarizes research work and current research achievements, and pointes out the place where has not done, where needs to be improved, and put forward prospects for future research.
