Radar and electronic chart are two indispensable navigation equipment in the navigation system, But both used alone can cause a certain limitation, Achieve the ship Navigation and positioning, collision, by use the information the two equipment provide is of great practical significance for sailors.In order to complete comprehensive utilization the information the two provide This thesis mainly work is use coastline as the standard which has obvious characteristic in radar image or electronic chart, extract the coastline from the radar image, And use of matching algorithms for search the coastline in electronic chart database. Finally complete the two matching, and give some information to help the Sailors judgment the ambient conditions. The main work contains:(1) Extract the coastline of radar image by Canny Algorithm.(2) For reduce the false edge and the breakpoint in the edge line which extract by the Canny algorithm, this thesis using the mathematical morphology such as Expansion, Corrosion, and Thinning to optimize the edge line. At last make the coastline get vector change, to lay the foundation for the matching work between radar image and electronic chart.(3)Put forward a effective algorithm, which based on the electronic chart database which has the R-tree index structure and used for searching the matching coastline in electronic chart database and then provide a kind of assessment method for estimate precision in matching process, make matching complete.
