At present, with the growing demand for electricity, substation electrical equipment load enhances unceasingly. At the same time, the failure and accident caused by the hot defect of the equipment are also unceasingly increasing. These things have caused huge economic losses and even caused the personnel casualties. So it should be timely and accurate detection the hot defects of substation electrical equipment and guarantee the safe and stable operation of power equipment. This paper uses the infrared detection technology. With using HX8600 the refrigeration focal plane thermography to diagnose transformer substation electrical equipment in Luoyang to realize the substation defects of online diagnosis.Firstly, this paper analyzes the background and significance, and the developing situation of infrared imaging technology at home and abroad. It also analyzes the application of infrared diagnostic in substation.Secondly, the paper analyzes the application of infrared diagnosing in Luoyang substation electrical equipment. It also analyzes Luoyang substation site concrete operation, requirements, key diagnostic parts, diagnostic cycle, judging method, defect type penalty and the solving methods.Thirdly, with using HX8600 the refrigeration focal plane thermography, the paper has collected some infrared images of electrical equipments in Luoyang substations, such as Liming, Guohua, Zhoushan, Tongle, Jinguyuan, Yangwen, Xusheng, Shengli road and Lou village and so on. And it analyzes the function and the methods of using the instruments. Combining with the data, the paper analyzes the results and determines the type of the defects and the eliminating methods.And then, the paper uses wavelet theory by using MATLAB image processing toolbox to obtain the infrared image's compression, enhancement, de-noising and edge detection. With comparing the analysis, finally we can get accurate and clear the fault detection data.Finally, the paper uses Visual Basic6.0 combining with MatrixVB to design an infrared image processing system software. It analyzes the system's function and application. After using image processing, the results of the simulation are analyzed. It can prove the feasibility of this system.
