With the rapid development of science and technology, human society has fully entered the information age and people's requirement for the communication network technology has become more sophisticated. These make the communication network to proceed along broadband, intelligent, personal and integrated services digital network. As the bridge between the backbone network and the user, access network has become the bottleneck of the entire communication network development. The access network technology of the current network has become a hot research.Because of its high-speed broadband, low cost, and widely used IP-compatible network structure flexible and easy maintenance, EPON is considered one of the best broadband access technology solutions. EPON uses WDM to realize the two ways' transmission in one fiber. In downstream direction, data is broadcasted to all ONUs and ONUs choose their data by checking the LLID in the head of the data. In upstream direction, all users share the bandwidth by the way of TDMA. Therefore, the technology about the upstream bandwidth is a key of the EPON system.Majoring in DBA, this paper overviews the broadband access technology and then summaries the structure of the EPON system, working principle and key technologies. Study the EPON upstream data transmission technology deeply and analysis several classical dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm. On the base of the study of Qos-based dynamic bandwidth algorithm, propose an optimized algorithm with high uplink bandwidth utilization and delay of a good algorithm. Verify the advantage of the new algorithm by the simulation of OPNET. Finally, summarize the work of this paper and do a plan for future research.
