Design And Implementtation Of Converged Device Management Interface

With the convergence of network and service, intelligent devices are improving rapidly. With the characteristic of all-IP, Next Generation Network (NGN) is driving the management of heterogeneous devices. However, the increasing of heterogeneous devices brings the complexity of configuration and management, and large cost of network maintenance. An effective mechanism for the management of heterogeneous devices is needed to facilitate the convergence of service. As the core component of any device management application, the converged device management interface implements the information interaction between the converged device management server and the managed devices. However, the interfaces of the existing device management are mostly private and support different information interaction mechanism and data model. And there is no opening and generic standards to define the management interfaces of the management of heterogeneous devices. Overall, the existing DM mechanisms have several disadvantages to manage heterogeneous devices. Therefore, it is necessary to design a generic management interface to manage heterogeneous devices.In order to improve the management of heterogeneous devices, this paper proposes a converged management interface for management of heterogeneous devices from the view of management interface. Firstly, the paper proposes the main research work and applications of existing device management mechanisms and specifies the research object by analyzing the disadvantages of the existing device management interfaces. Secondly, based on the capability requirements of the heterogeneous device management interface, this paper analyses the component of converged device management interface to specify the design requirements of converged device management interface. Thirdly, the paper specifies the design of converged device management interface from two part, which are the converged device management protocol (CDMP) and generic device management information model (GIM). Based on the definition of meta-method set and extensible eSOAP message format, this paper proposes a converged protocol for management of heterogeneous devices from the view of management protocol named CDMP, which realize the interconnection requirement of converged device management interface. And based on the modeling method of SID, the generic information model (GIM) is defined to support the transmission object definition of converged device management interface. Finally, the paper introduces the design and realization of the management interface adapter component of converged device management system, which is based on the deigning of CDMP and GIM.
