As the development of information society and the globalization, many researchers in China realize that it is important and urgent to develop civil media literacy. But while compared with other countries, we still have obvious differences in the popularization of media literacy, the study of theory, and the practice of media literacy education. With the development of nearly 50 years, the media literacy curriculum in Canada has formed relatively a consummate system, and improved the level of teenagers'media literacy. The experiences of Canadian media literacy education also have important significance for the media literacy education in China.This research has focused on the media literacy education in primary and secondary schools in Canada. After sorting out relative theory documents, it analyses the basic thoughts, the education measures and the courses'frame of media literacy education in Canada.On the basis of Canadian media literacy education historical development, the author introduces the structure, the expectations, and the contents of the media literacy courses in primary and secondary schools in Canada. Then, the author summarizes the characteristics of media literacy education in Canada, including the active demand for setting up ethical culture identity, the supporting from public and government, the complete structure of the courses and so on.Finally, basing on the experiences of media literacy education in Canada, the author rethinks profoundly about the reality of media literacy education in our country, and attempts to put forward some useful opinions and suggestions.
