China's shipbuilding industry is faced with a broad market demand. China is in the stage of economic development depande on the havey chemical industry, national economy increase continuously and rapidaly, has a stongly need of coal, iron ore, petroleum, grain and other goods. China's foreign trade and oversea transport expand increasingly.China's inland and coastal transport also developed rapidly. China's shipbuilding industry may rely on the strong demand of domestic market, register steady development in the global era of of economic downturn. Accelerating the promotion of modern shipbuilding mode, fully applicating the information technology to improve ship design standards, reduce cycle time, reduce costs, will be the guarantee to make China from largest shipbuilding country to strongest shipbuilding country.In recent years, with improving technology of ship design and development of the Internet, the traditional ship design technology and network technology combines next-generation design system, has important engineering significance and practical value. This thesis developed a web-based design system for hull lines through the integration of key modules,make full use of network sharing, integration, real-time and other advantages of web mode to achieve the design anytime and anywhere, to meet the information sharing requirements of middle and small ship enterprises, to accelerate the process of hull lines design, to improve the level of profile design,and to provide effective protection for the ship's rapid development.Hull lines design system is based on computer network as the system platform,it's a subject database applications system based on B/S structure. Based on overall analysis of the system functions, discussed the structure design and access interface of system database, developped information management module, the mother-boat query module and the ship information saving module of the system,gave a software tool which has the ship transformation and performance calculations features. System used Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database management system for storage of hullform and performance data at home and abroad, designed simple, friendly and practical web page with Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. As practice have proven, entering the type of ship design and main parameters, the system can automatically query similar mother ship, and display query results in the client's web page for user to view the main parameters and hull pictures,on-line browse the ship model, and comparise the merits of the mother ships; When user selected a mother ship, you can save and download real-time data information and the hull ship model file with fbm format; System gave FREE!ship download services and instructions for use to users if have not this software, rapidly complete the hull form transformation and performance caculation, dismissed the users from the troubles of downloading and understanding of the software; If the user satisfact the design results, you can export the ship model, profile and other documents; If not satisfied with the results of the design, you can return the page to modify parameters of the input parameters, re-inquiry and transform. The system also has practical value for the further development of intelligent ship design and advisory system.
